BTV (brandstoftransitieverplichting)
The BTV (brandstoftransitieverplichting, fuel transition obligation) is the Dutch system requiring fuel suppliers to lower the greenhouse-gas emissions of the fuel they supply. It requires at least 14.5% lower greenhouse-gas emissions from transport fuels by 2030, applies to road, inland shipping and maritime, and works with tradable ERE’s. The BTV is the Dutch implementation of RED III.
The obligation rests on fuel suppliers, not on charge point owners. But because suppliers need ERE’s to meet it, demand arises for the units that anyone with charging infrastructure can build up.
