From kWh to euro, in five steps.
We work it through with the latest published ERE price.
Worked example: 10,000 kWh of grid electricity
A business with a few charge points charges 10,000 kWh a year from the grid. This is how we get to what it keeps.
Charging electricity
10,000 kWh, measured by the MID meter in the charger.
Renewable share
In 2026 grid electricity counts as 50.5% renewable (set by CBS, the Dutch statistics office). Electricity you generate yourself counts as 100%, under conditions.
ERE's
Every renewable kWh replaces fossil fuel at 183 grams of CO₂ per megajoule, and a kWh is 3.6 megajoules. 1 ERE stands for 1 kilo less CO₂ emitted in the chain. Together: 3,326 ERE's.
Market price
Fuel suppliers buy your ERE's at the market price. It moves; the ERE price index shows it weekly, as of 16 Oct 2026.
Minus the service fee
We keep a service fee on what your ERE's earn: 20% on the first €10,000 of revenue a year, then stepping down to 6%. Private individuals always pay 20%. No upfront costs.
Net for you, per year
about €865
That is about €0.08 per kWh, at the price of 16 Oct 2026 and the entry fee. An indication, not a promise: the price moves.
Where the money comes from
Fuel suppliers have to cut the CO₂ emissions in their chain further every year: by 14.4% in 2026. Your ERE's help them comply.
Fuel supplier
Has a legal obligation and buys ERE's.
Broker
Brings buyer and seller together.
Third-party account
The money sits outside Voltico's books.
You
Paid out periodically, after the service fee.
Voltico registers and sells on your behalf. We have no trading position of our own: we buy no ERE's and supply no fuel.
