Nomination for the Charging Infrastructure Innovation Award. Vote for Voltico!

We are proud to share that Voltico has been nominated for the Charging Infrastructure Innovation Award. This nomination highlights our mission to make EV charging not only more sustainable but also economically attractive for businesses.
By combining technology, data, and market mechanisms, we use our fintech software to automatically convert charging credits (such as emission reduction units EREs in the Netherlands; e-credits in Belgium) into monthly revenue. In this way, we contribute to the energy transition in a fully automated, compliant way, without relying on subsidies.
In this article, we explain how our innovation works and how it strengthens the business case for EV charging infrastructure.
Congres Laadinfra ‘26 and the Charging Infrastructure Innovation Award
The Charging Infrastructure Innovation Award will be presented during Congres Laadinfra ‘26 on February 10, 2026, in Brussels. The congress brings together approximately 450 professionals from the charging infrastructure, mobility, and energy sectors to discuss current topics such as electrification, grid congestion, smart charging, and the energy transition.
The award aims to highlight innovations that make the biggest impact on Belgium’s charging infrastructure. In addition to Voltico, the three-member jury has nominated two other innovations:
PANION by K2 Mobility, focused on reliable and efficient charging of electric trucks and buses without disrupting daily operations, and
We Drive Solar, which demonstrates how electric shared vehicles can actively help solve grid congestion and contribute to a more sustainable energy system.
The Charging Infrastructure Innovation Award 2026 will be awarded to the nominee with the highest combined score, with public votes and the jury’s evaluation each counting for 50%.
Belgium EV Summit on January 16
Earlier this month, Sten Boerkamp and Despina Chatzikyriakou represented Voltico at the Belgium EV Summit in Brussels. During nearly every conversation, two key themes kept coming up:
How can EVs and e-trucks compete on price?
How do you convince drivers to switch to electric not just rationally, but also emotionally?
We focus on the first: our fintech software automates the entire process around charging credits, resulting in monthly revenue. At the same time, the market is showing that driving electric can simply be fun.
Our role as registration partner
We make it easy for companies with charging infrastructure to generate additional revenue from electric vehicle charging, without any extra operational effort.
Accurately recording and leveraging EV-charging credits requires precise data, regulatory knowledge, and reliable administrative handling.
Through our platform, we automate the collection and verification of EV charging data, the registration with authorities (in the Netherlands, the NEa; in Belgium, the FOD Economie), the trading of charging credits, and the monthly payout of revenue, all fully compliant with current regulations. This way, companies don’t need to worry about complex administration or compliance requirements.
The value of charging credits has risen significantly in recent years. In the Netherlands, the price in 2025 (when they were still HBE’s) increased from €0.07 to €0.12 per kWh charged. For companies, this can mean several hundred euros per charging point per year; for fast chargers, the potential is even higher. In 2026, the value of ERE's is expected to increase further. Use our calculator tool to estimate your potential ERE revenue.
By working with a registration partner (known in the Netherlands as an inboekdienstverlener), organizations can benefit from charging credits without being burdened by complex processes. In the Netherlands, a new regulation requires companies that register less than 2 million kWh of electricity per year for transport to use a registration partner.
Vote for Voltico
We see our nomination for the Charging Infrastructure Innovation Award as recognition that, together, we are making sustainable mobility smarter, simpler, and more economically attractive.
