Turn your EV charging data into recurring income
As of 1 January 2026, eligible kWh charged for electric transport can be converted into emission reduction units (EREs, also known in the market as ERE certificates). This turns charging sessions into an additional revenue stream. E-Flux by Road provides the required audit-proof data; Voltico handles the validation, ERE registration, trading, and automated payouts.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
What is ERE?
ERE stands for emission reduction unit (Dutch: emissiereductie-eenheid). EREs are tradeable units awarded for renewable energy delivered to vehicles. Voltico registers your charging sessions with the Dutch Emissions Authority (NEa), sells the resulting units, and pays you your share. ERE replaced HBE as the unit under the scheme on 1 January 2026. It is a further development of the same instrument, not a new one.
Do I need a green energy contract to earn EREs?
No, and it makes no difference which supplier or tariff you have. Because EREs are awarded for the renewable part of the energy you deliver, what counts is the renewable share of the Dutch grid mix. That share is set each year, and for 2026 it is 50.5%, so you earn EREs on 50.5% of the electricity you charge. Because the figure is restated annually, it can differ in later years.
Is my charging point eligible?
Your charging point needs a MID-certified meter, and this is the most common reason a home charger does not qualify. Please note that a substantial share of chargers already installed in the Netherlands do not have one.
You can look your charger up in the list of MID eligibility for the most common models, which we publish. If your model is not on the list, its spec sheet will tell you whether the meter is MID-certified. Note that a German Eichrecht certificate is not the same thing and is generally not accepted; we need to see the MID certificate itself.
What does it cost?
There is no subscription fee, no connection fee and no set-up fee. Voltico takes a 20% service fee on the actual revenue; you keep 80%. If for unexpected reasons you cannot generate any EREs, we charge you nothing.
What can I expect to earn?
It depends entirely on how much you charge. We refer to our website to calculate your possible income.
When can I start?
The Voltico integration with E-Flux by Road goes live for the first customers from mid-August 2026, with a public launch expected early September. The NEa register was temporarily closed for system changes and is currently expected to reopen in August 2026.
Do charging sessions from before I signed up count?
Yes. Once you are registered, we can include sessions from MID-metered charging points from 1 January 2026 onwards. You do not lose the months before you signed up.
How long does it take?
Most of the form is a few (up to 10) minutes' work and the identity check takes about two minutes.
I drive a company car or a lease car. Is the payout treated as salary?
The Belastingdienst published a position on this on 3 August 2026 (KG:204:2026:16): the payout for electricity you charge at home for a company car is not considered as wage under tax law.
Do I need to do anything to keep it running?
Your charging sessions come through from E-Flux by Road automatically, so day to day there is nothing to do. Once a year we do need a fresh energy bill from you, because we have to prove you owned the connection for the whole registered period.
